The 10th annual conference on Health Impact Assessment will provide an international forum to debate and discuss a wide range of perspectives in HIA and explore te role of HIA in other sectors. Health Impact Assessment is a multi-method and inter-disciplinary way of working on health promotion and disease prevention. It combines both quailitative and quantitative approaches to data collection. The HIA '09 conference will highlight exactly this variety of the method and has therefore devided the conference in three major topics, the so-called streams. These three streams are Health in all Policies, Tools and Methods and Special Topics. HEALTH IN ALL POLICIES In this stream we will discuss issues such as: how can HIA be embedded in policy processes, how can HIA effectively advise policy, and what are the conditions to develop Healthy Public Policies. TOOLS AND METHODS In this stream the methods and tools of HIA are central. Topics such as new checklists, quantitative and qualitative tools, as well as methods for integrated impact assessment can be discussed. Moreover this stream provides space for new approaches to Health Impact Assessment such as Health Systems Impact Assessment (HSIA) and Health Equity Impact Assesment, as well as tailored HIA, for instance focused on obesity or other life style factors. SPECIAL TOPICS The orientation of this stream is mainly practical. Different sectoral and intersectoral topics can be discussed, such as climate change, obesity, mobility, inequalities in health, as well as specific target groups such as migrant groups, or youth. The three streams are leading for all elements of the conference such as: - Keynotes
- Plenary debate
- Workshops
- Poster presentation
